Sheffield Wednesday-West Brom set for biggest attendance of Championship season - ticket update

The Owls’ last game against West Brom is set to attract the highest attendance in the Championship this season

More tickets have been made available for Owls fans for the season finale against West Brom at Hillsborough.

Wednesday host The Baggies on Saturday, May 2 at 12.30pm. Although The Owls already know their own fate after relegation to League One was confirmed back in February, there is still plenty of interest in the final game of the season from a blue and white perspective.

With David Storch and his Arise consortium aiming to complete a takeover of the club the day before, on May, 1, it could be the start of a new area for Wednesday and a day of celebration. Not only that, opponents West Brom are currently fighting relegation themselves. Even though they are five points clear of the drop with only nine to play for, the Baggies are at risk of a possible points deduction because of a potential financial breach. If applied this season it could see them fall into the bottom three.

Ahead of the game, Wednesday have announced that an additional 1,750 tickets in the lower tier of the West Stand and the far lower section of the North Stand will be available to buy online only from 9am on Tuesday morning. The club believe that it is set to be the highest-attended fixture of the Championship season.

“The Owls are pleased to confirm that, following exceptional demand and with almost every available seat already sold, additional tickets will go on sale on Tuesday morning for the final home match of the season against West Brom,” the club said in a statement.

“An extra 1,750 seats will be released at 9am tomorrow (Tuesday, April 21, located in the West Stand lower tier and the far lower section of the North Stand. These tickets will be available online only.

“The final game at Hillsborough is set to be the highest-attended Championship fixture of the season.”

With West Brom having sold out their allocation of 2,460 in the top tier of the West Stand, it is set to be an electric atmosphere. The clash at Hillsborough will be the last chance Wednesday will have of winning a home league match this season.
