A source in youth football has told The Star that the club are operating what was described as a ‘door ajar’ policy for promising youngsters released from Premier League and Championship clubs over the past few weeks, meaning that while the Owls will continue to be selective over who they invite to the club, there is continued scope for bright young things to trial at Wednesday.
Former Everton forward Korede Adedoyin, 19, signed a two-year deal at the club last month having made his mark on trial and would have been involved in the first team’s cup tie at Fulham were it not for a delayed paperwork hiccup.

Hide AdFormer Aston Villa winger Colin Odutayo, ex-Liverpool and Burnley attacker Marley Blair and former Crystal Palace midfielder Giovanni McGregor have also come and gone without a contract offer, the latter pair told there was no immediate route to the first team for them despite impressing.
Lee Bullen’s under-23s have been deprived of several players in recent weeks as Garry Monk blooded the likes of Ciaran Brennan, Liam Waldock, Conor Grant and Charles Hagan in their three-game Carabao Cup run.
And despite their likely return, Wednesday will still offer opportunities to top young players hoping to step back into the professional game after they were released this summer.
The transfer and registration of out of contract players can be completed outside of the transfer window, which closes to Championship clubs on October 16.
