The first half was a dogfight. Wednesday seemed to get drawn into a bar brawl and were unable to impose their impressive best as the visitors traded blows at S6.
But even posed with that conundrum, the Owls kept them at arm’s length. The second half was a controlled demolition as confident as you’ll see and reduced Peterborough to mannequins. In the big moments, Wednesday were yet again just better.
Here are our player ratings as the blue and white wizards kept League One under their spell.

5. Akin Famewo - 7
Won some important headers and looked tidy as ever on the ball. Offers plenty of balance to things going forward and just seems to read the game really nicely. A very tidy footballer. Photo: Harriet Massey / UGC

6. Liam Palmer - 7
Pushed the ball around nicely and put in one ball of particular quality to put Smith in for a first half chance. Got forward with regularity and was a real thorn in Peterborough's side throughout - almost got a shot off from a good position early in the second dig and showed his capability almost anywhere on the pitch shifting across to the left. 7. George Byers - 7
Did some handy stuff on the ball but seemed riled early doors - managed to chill out a touch and helped grab control of things from the start of the second half. ot at his barnstorming, brilliant best, but very tidy and didn't put a foot wrong. Photo: UGC/Steve Ellis

8. Barry Bannan - 7
Was of course central to Wednesday's tidy ball retention in their better periods but maybe wasn't able to grapple control in possession in the first half. Was yellow carded for a mistimed tackle before the 40th minute but came alive in the second dig and laid on a softly-nudged ball through to Brown for the goal. Moments of majesty sprinkled all over that second half as he stuck his chest out and controlled it. When he goes at it like that there's no doubt he's among the best to have ever played in this division. Photo: UGC/Steve Ellis
