After a disappointing start under new ownership last week at Reading, the Owls will be hoping that their ‘Thank You, Milan’ day for outgoing owner Mandaric will offer cause for celebration as Cardiff City come to town.
Sheffield Wednesday: Westwood; Palmer, Vermijl, Lees, Mattock; Maguire, McGugan, Hutchinson, Helan; Bus or Nuhiu, Keane.
Cardiff: Moore; Peltier, Manga, Morrison, Malone; Harris, O’Keefe, Whittingham, Noone; Revell, Doyle.
PLAYER TO WATCH
On transfer deadline day, Cardiff City swooped to sign striker Eoin Doyle from Chesterfield for an undisclosed fee worth around £1m and he is expected to make his debut at Hillsborough. The former Hibernian centre-forward has scored 25 goals during the 2014/15 season, having started his career in Ireland with Shelbourne a decade ago.
Cardiff may have lost four on the trot, but will fancy their chances of picking up a positive result against Wednesday. The Bluebirds have won the last four meetings between the two clubs. They condemned the Owls to their first away league defeat last September, winning 2-1.
MAN IN THE MIDDLE
Kevin Wright: The Cambridgeshire whistler has officiated 20 matches this term, brandishing 66 bookings and five red cards. He last took charge of an Owls match in April 2013 when they drew 0-0 at Blackpool and he dished out six cautions. A fishing enthusiast, Wright served his apprenticeship in the Peterborough & District, United & Eastern Counties and Conference leagues before officiating his first Football League match in 2003.
