From Man United v Man City FA Cup semi-final to World Cup games . . . 26 photos of Sheffield Wednesday's Hillsborough Stadium through the decades

Hillsborough has been home to Sheffield Wednesday since 1899.

Since then, the famous old ground has hosted World Cup and Euro 96 matches as well as FA Cup semi-finals and has been graced by some of the most famous men who have played the game – including the legendary Pele when his Santos team came to town in the early 70s.

It was also scene of one of the most famous Sheffield city derbies . . . the Boxing Day massacre in 1979.

The old girl has also witnessed Wednesday fans experience the joy of promotion as well as the heartache of relegation.
