Liam Shaw’s Sheffield Wednesday contract latest – The Wednesdayite doesn’t want his dream to end

He’s gone from watching Sheffield Wednesday from the Kop to scoring in front of it, and Liam Shaw doesn’t want his ‘dream’ to end this season.

Shaw has shot up through the Owls ranks in recent months, with Garry Monk giving him his debut, Tony Pulis handing him a couple more starts and then Neil Thompson continuing the faith as he bagged his first goal earlier this week.

Now, after putting in a Man of the Match display in the victory over Derby County, the 19-year-old lifelong Owl says that he’s hoping his contract situation can be sorted out soon.

The versatile Owls academy product, who has played as a midfielder and centre back for Wednesday, will see his current deal expire at the end of the current campaign, but The Star recently revealed that talks are underway regarding a contract extension.

Shaw, it would appear, is very keen to put pen to paper, and his recent performances will certainly not have hurt his chances.

When asked about whether he wants to stay on at Hillsborough, ‘Shawy’ said, “It’s my boyhood club, it’s a dream to play for this club, it always is every time I go out there - it’d be perfect to stay.

“We’re in talks, but my agent’s sorting that out so I can’t really comment on that…

“Hopefully it’ll be done soon.”

Shaw is one of a number of Wednesday players coming out of contract come the end of June, and chairman, Dejphon Chansiri, said recently that they’re working on renewals for several players at this point in time.
