Liam Shaw to Celtic? – Sheffield Wednesday starlet is going nowhere… For now at least
Liam Shaw remains a hot topic at Sheffield Wednesday amid interest from Celtic, but The Star understands that he’ll still be with the club when tonight’s transfer window closes.
There has been plenty of talk about the 19-year-old of late, with impressive performances in the Championship and FA Cup seeing the young Wednesdayite become a bit of a fan favourite over the past couple of months.
But his form has not gone unnoticed elsewhere, with The Star understanding that the Scottish giants have opened up talks with him after he entered into the last six months of his current deal at Hillsborough.
The latest news on the defender, who has also played in midfield, is that he wants to help Wednesday get out of their predicament at the bottom of the table, and that he remains in talks with the Owls regarding a potential extension of his deal at his boyhood club.
It is understood that Celtic’s offer, as things stand, is a precontract for the end of the season, and that Shaw is in absolutely no rush to make a decision on where his long-term future lies.
His long-term future, however, does remain up in the air, but the understanding is that Shaw is up for the relegation scrap and will be raring to go for the club whenever he has made a full recovery from the shoulder injury that has kept him out of the last few matches.
Shaw has played 12 games in all competitions this season, and will be hoping to add to that tally as the club seek to secure their Championship status in the coming months.
