Sheffield Wednesday drew 0-0 with Leeds United in the October meeting between the sides, and the Owls were perhaps unlucky not to escape with all three points. Leeds have been in fine form since then, and Garry Monk’s side will have to be on top form to secure the win. Here is what to expect from Leeds United:

How is their form?

Last 5 league games: D, W, D, L, D

Leeds’ form is a little patchy, but when you dig a little deeper, they have played some fairly tough games recently. A narrow 1-0 defeat to Arsenal in the FA Cup drew plenty of plaudits due to a strong first-half performance, and a draw away to West Brom should be seen as a decent point. That said, in their previous two home games against Preston North End and Cardiff City they have failed to win - that will give Monk’s side encouragement.

Argentine boss Marcelo Bielsa advocates a famously hard-running, high-tempo style. Expect Leeds United to pass the ball around with pace and attempt to stretch Sheffield Wednesday. Whilst the Whites were probably the inferior team at Hillsborough in October, they are likely to feel more comfortable at their own ground. The Owls will likely try to slow the game down and pick Leeds off on the counter-attack.

League position?

As things stand Leeds United are top of the pile, just ahead of West Bromwich Albion on goal difference on 52 points. The Whites are nine points ahead of third place and looking to seal an automatic promotion spot. Sheffield Wednesday can cut the gap to Leeds to ten points with a win at Elland Road.

Dangermen?

Patrick Bamford is Leeds’ top scorer with ten goals so far this season, and his influence stretches beyond goals - his stamina and battling qualities make him a handful for defenders. If Pablo Hernandez returns from injury he will be one to watch; he racked up 12 goals and 12 assists from midfield last year.

Expected line-up?

Casilla, Ayling, Cooper, White, Douglas, Phillips, Klich, Dallas, Costa, Harrison, Bamford
