'Leeds United away day and FA Cup tie with Manchester City' - 23 photos of Sheffield Wednesday supporters pre-lockdown in 2020

A lot has happened in the last 12 months at Sheffield Wednesday . . . on and off the pitch.

A points deduction, managerial sackings and poor form on the pitch set the tone for a miserable 2020 for Wednesdayites.

But there was also lockdown.

An unprecedented move by Government as part of its battle to get to grips with Covid-19 – a virus which has swept the world and caused untold misery to communities across the globe, including here in Sheffield.

It led to the suspension of football in March and when the beautiful game eventually made a return in June, matches were played behind closed doors – and continue to do so almost a year on since life changed forever.

In fact, it seems an age since Owls fans last set foot inside Hillsborough when Pep Guardiola’s star-studded Manchester City were in town for the FA Cup fifth round tie at S6 on March 4.

Sadly, no one knows when fans will be able to return in their thousands to once again take up their seats on the Kop.

In the meantime, we’ve taken a short trip back in time to this time last year when fans were allowed into grounds to watch Wednesday in action.
