Hide AdOne player that emerged as a potential target late in the window has been Wigan Athletic defender Tom Pearce, who would satisfy the need to fill the left-back berth.
Despite an admiration for the youngster, The Star understands that as it stands, no concrete moves have been made by the Owls for the highly-rated 22-year-old.
The Lancashire club has been a happy hunting ground for the Owls of late, with Josh Windass and Chey Dunkley having made permanent moves across the Pennines in recent months.
This time, though, circumstances at Wigan have shifted and in the event of a bid coming through, the Latics are not necessarily believed to be willing sellers. Pearce, an Everton youth product that arrived at the club via Leeds United, has been one of the side’s outstanding performers this season.

A lot can change quickly on deadline day as clubs look to seal late deals and it remains to be seen whether Wednesday make a late attempt to sign Pearce.
