"Where's Fletch?"- Sheffield Wednesday fans react to Steven Fletcher's omission
Striker Steven Fletcher was a surprise omission in Sheffield Wednesday’s squad for Sunday’s televised clash with Bristol City at Hillsborough.
The Scottish international has played a pivotal role in the Owls’ recent unbeaten run, scoring six goals in the last five games and 12 in total so far this season.
But news that he hasn’t made today’s squad – thought to be due to illness – for the noon clash with play-off rivals City has left Wednesday supporters asking ‘where’s Fletch?’.
Here’s the reaction from Owls fans on Twitter.
@DirtyLyle No Fletcher?! Hope he’s only rested. But in Nuhiu we trust. Will work well with Rhodes hopefully #swfc
@MichaelOK84 Fletcher missing for the Owls today, hope there's no major concerns about him going forwards. He's been like a different player this season with the goal tally. So Athde and Jordan Rhodes out to do the business for us. Hopefully. Could go 3rd with a win. #swfc
@themunchkin2011 Fletcher not in squad is a big miss for us hope it’s not too serious #swfc
@clurrrrxhx Rhodes is gonna fire in another 3. Panic over. UTO #swfc
@BillyFensterFen Someone go find Fletcher and wrap him up in cotton wool before the game #swfc
@s26kel Fletcher out, might just turn around now #swfc
@JamesMarriott Trams finally start to take card payments, on the same day Atdhe Nuhiu replaces Steven Fletcher. The lord giveth, the lord taketh
@_ElliottJackson No Steven Fletcher for Sheffield Wednesday today, which is a big blow. Big pressure on Jordan Rhodes to step up after last weekend's hat-trick. I understand there's no injury involved, he's been sent home ill.
@_GeorgeSmith99 A big, big blow for Sheffield Wednesday to be without Steven Fletcher. How the Owls will cope without him will be interesting. Big pressure on Jordan Rhodes now to deliver the goods.
@dexteritybox Steven Fletcher being sold in January when he's only just started to come good for us would be the most #swfc thing ever.
@Clock_work_Owl Hope I’m wrong, but Nuhiu and Rhodes seems like a partnership forged in hell. #SWFC
