Mark Warburton’s Hoops won’t be far away and will make the trip to Blackburn on the same evening.

It means travelling Wednesday fans face the prospect of four weeknight away days in eight weeks, with league fixtures at Luton Town (Wednesday Feb 12) and Bristol City (Tuesday March 17) already scheduled.

Speaking to the QPR club website, QPR CEO Lee Hoos said: “We realise the importance of a good run in the FA Cup and by bringing the tie forward it will give the squad a longer period of recovery time between the Sheffield Wednesday game and the rearranged Blackburn league match.

“By playing on Friday night, we hope that the additional recovery time will give Mark and his staff the opportunity to have his squad in the best possible shape for both matches. We all want the team to do well in the league and in the cup and this gives us the best opportunity to do that.”

Wednesday are hoping to book their place in the fifth round for only the second time in six seasons following their impressive 1-0 third round win over Premier League Brighton.
