Two Sheffield Wednesday players included in stats-based Championship team of the week

And according to stats-based website Infogol, the performances of two Owls players has earned them a place in the Championship team of the week.

It will come as little to surprise to most that Steven Fletcher, who is on a red-hot run of five goals in three matches and scored with a classy first-time finish to put Wednesday ahead, leads the line.

The Scot also takes his place as the division’s player of the week having taken five shots, two of which were on target.

And he is joined by Morgan Fox, who offered another solid display on the left side of defence.

The Infogol team is selected from xG calculations based on a player’s contribution to the likelihood of their team scoring and, in turn, not conceding.

Fox completed five of his eight passes in the attacking third and 14 of his 20 forward passes. He also created two chances for his side.

In defence, the former Charlton man made five successful clearances and two blocks alongside a vital interception.

Fletcher also contributed defensively, completing two clearances and winning two of his five aerial duels at the back. He did, however, complete only seven of his 17 passes.

The inclusion is the second for both players this season.
