There were several talking points from an assured display. Here are just five.

Big up ‘Big O’

Fresh from his headline-grabbing debut outing at Brighton, 19-year-old Osaze Urhoghide was entrusted to keep his place in the side against the Championship’s premier outfit.

He had a couple of hairy moments in the first half hour but grew into it, producing a couple of eye-catching runs. Elland Road is a hell of a cauldron in which to make your league debut and up against an in-form Jack Harrison, he coped excellently.

Winner Winnall

Wednesday’s promotion credentials could be made or broken on whether their back-up strikers are able to step into the considerable shoes of Steven Fletcher. Sam Winnall got the nod this time.

He couldn’t make a couple of half-chances count but his link-up play was good and he workrate first class - important in denying Leeds’ defence the time to pick a pass. Off for Atdhe Nuhiu with 23 to go and though the Kosovan was excellent coming on, Winnall should keep his place.

Midfield dilemmas

Debate over the Wednesday midfield has rumbled on throughout the season. Sam Hutchinson, so used to being one of the first names on the teamsheet, was left on the bench. Massimo Luongo and Kieran Lee added mobility and they set up well with Barry Bannan to frustrate the hosts.

Attitude

Garry Monk questioned his squad’s attitude after their defeat against Hull and between the Brighton win and their performance at Elland Road, the players have answered. Wednesday were disciplined, dogged and determined and thoroughly deserved everything they got.

Supersub Nuhiu

Coming off the bench, Atdhe Nuhiu nicked an assist and then a thunderous finish to turn the game on it’s head.

The Kosovan’s impact when on-song can be tremendous and he certainly made his presence felt at Leeds.
