Although the threat of a possible points deduction continues to cast a shadow over the club's season, Wednesday are flying on the pitch.

Monk's troops have taken 14 points from their last six matches to go third in the table at the halfway mark of the campaign.

And Andrews, speaking after the Owls' hard-fought win over Bristol City, has praised the job Monk has done in challenging circumstances.

Andrews said: "We don't know what is going to happen in terms of the points deduction.

"Will that be coming in the coming weeks and months? We don't know so you have to just judge it on what they are doing.

"Garry Monk hasn't had a transfer window or pre-season.

"If he is able to bring one or two of his style of players to compliment what is already here in January with the belief and momentum that is growing, they are very difficult to play against.

"They are not a particularly nice team to play against and they have got players who are dangerous at what they do. He [Monk] plays to those strengths.

"He has recognised what he has at his disposal and he then goes and plays to that and the momentum then grows.

"He is not a manager who goes in and thinks 'I have to play three at the back or I have to play 4-3-3.' He plays what suits the players."
