Sidibi out of Owls clash

STOKE City striker Mamady Sidibe will not be facing Sheffield Wednesday on Saturday.

The injuries he suffered when he was attacked by Togo fans after his team Mali, had beaten them, will sideline him for around three weeks.

Sidibe, 27, was knocked unconscious and suffered a gashed eye that needed eight stitches as well as cuts and bruising on his arm.

"He has been to see a specialist and has to go back again in 12 days so he is out for at least that long," said Stoke manager Tony Pulis.

He is also reportedly still distressed by the incident which occurred when Togo fans invaded the pitch after Mali's win pipped them for a place in next January's African Cup of Nations.
