The former West Ham United and Norwich City manager was brought in as part of Chansiri’s new management team last April.

Chansiri said Roeder, Adam Pearson would form “a three-man sporting director by committee” alongside head coach Stuart Gray. Pearson left after three weeks while Gray was sacked last summer and replaced by Carlos Carvalhal.

Roeder becomes the third person to leave the Owls’ committee, following in the footsteps of Jonathan Hill and Paul Senior, who departed last month. Only Chansiri and Carvalhal are now the only members left of the committee.

In a statement, Chansiri commented: “I have enjoyed working with Glenn and his football knowledge has been extremely helpful.

“As I have stated previously, I will continue to make the difficult decisions in the best interest of the club. The committee will continue to evolve, I therefore need to ensure it is populated with the best mix of expert advisors available to me which will result in periodical changes in personnel as the club progresses.

“I am confident that along with my network of trusted advisors the committee will continue to build on the success I believe we have already achieved as we approach the January transfer window.”
