The Arsenal forward, who made a headline-grabbing early impact from the bench on loan at Leeds United this season, is set to be recalled by the London giants because of well-publicised concerns over his pitch time.

Nketiah, 20, made his first start for the Whites in their thrilling 5-4 win over Birmigham last night. He has scored five goals this season.

Leeds boss Marcelo Bielsa has previously made clear his concerns over the youngster’s adaptability to the defensive side of his preferred system.

Wednesday have been linked with a loan move for Liverpool forward Rhian Brewster in recent weeks and are among the clubs interested in offering Nketiah a more central role in a Championship outfit.

It will be a tough signature to secure, though, with Bristol City reportedly leading the charge for his services ahead of the likes of Wednesday, Brentford and Nottingham Forest.

Reports in the Bristol Post claim the Robins are confident they will get their man after coming close to signing the youngster in the summer, offering up a track record for developing young players, including Chelsea striker Tammy Abraham.

Wednesday may feel they have to attempt to offload one or more of their five first team forwards in January in order to accommodate a loan arrival.

Only Steven Fletcher has more than three goals for the Owls this term.
