Four former Owls players have signed up to take part in an annual charity match next month.
Miguel Llera, a key figure in Wednesday’s 2012 promotion-winning side, Julian Watts, Yoann Foley and Craig Armstrong are set to play in the Reds v Blues match on Saturday, July 2, kick-off 3pm.
The quartet will be joined in the Blues squad by professional boxer Daniel Slaney, boxing trainer Ryan Rhodes and snooker player Adam Duffy. Retired pros Tony Vaughan, Andy Holdsworth, Simon Marples and Lee Chesters have also been pencilled in.
Ex-Sheffield United winger Paul Devlin, Rufus Brevitt and Darren Bullock are expected to line-up in the Reds side. Britain’s Got Talent star Paul Manners, model Ryan Scarbo, cyclist Chris Pritchard and actor Darren James Luckin are also getting ready to show off fancy footwork.
Carl Bradshaw and Jon Newsome will take charge of the teams and will be assisted by Mark Roe and John Pearson respectively.
The event, which will be staged at the Jubilee Sports and Social Club on Claywheels Lane, is in aid of the Hallam FM Cash for Kids charity and the Sheffield Wednesday Community Programme.
As well as the big match, there will be other attractions, including fairground rides, craft stalls, bouncy castles, bubblefootball and a live music stage.
Gates open at 11am. Entry fee (Minimum donation) is £1. Under 5’s are free. No unaccompanied U16’s.
