Here's how we rated the Owls players...
Made two great first half saves to deny the dangerous Bradley Dack and preserve the Owls lead. Could do little to prevent Blackburn's goals in an otherwise impressive performance.
Looked reliable and at his best. Never troubled by Reed or the overlapping Nyambe, and fed Aarons well on the attack. Continues to impress under Steve Bruce.

Imperious at the back. Only troubled on a couple of occasions by the opposition duo of Dack and Graham, but handled the threat well. Arguably should have done better to stop Rothwell for Blackburn's goal.
Rock solid at the back and advanced into the midfield with the ball. Blackburn's two goals look harsh on a good defensive performance and another strong outing from the Chelsea loanee.
Looked athletic and communicated well with Reach to ensure they doubled up when required and halted Blackburn's advances. Grew in confidence going forward and was rewarded with a goal.
Injured in the warm up but managed to start the game. Looked uncomfortable and was forced off for Joey Pelupessy on nine minutes.
Handled the early change in central midfield partner well and displayed the best of the defensive side of his game as he worked tirelessly. Wednesday's provider with two assists from free kicks and another from open play.
Picked up the ball and ran at Blackburn at every opportunity and looked a threat in doing so. Sent crosses into the box and was a real handful throughout the match.
Was a real handful for Nyambe and was unlucky not to win more free kicks after being pushed and pulled around in the first half. Sent in a few dangerous crosses but had a quieter second half.
Wednesday's goal machine struck again early in the first half with a true poachers finish after some shocking Blackburn defending. Worked hard until he was subbed for Nuhiu on 58 minutes.
Impressive on his first start since 2017. Got stuck into the action in the box and came close to poking in two low crosses in the first 45. Came off for Matias on 54 minutes.
A ninth minute substitute for the injured Sam Hutchinson. Did well when called into action and, working with Bannan, won the midfield battle to force Blackburn out wide.
A 54th minute sub for Sam Winnall. Didn't see too much of the ball but was clinical when it mattered as he stuck Wednesday's fourth past Raya.
A 58th minute sub for Steven Fletcher. Had an instant impact as he provided Wednesday with a second as he nodded in Bannan's free kick.
