Here’s how we rated the Owls players...

A rare off day for the Owls 'keeper in terms of his distribution, but made some great stops when called into action including big ones from Afobe and Ince in the second half.
Fresh from playing for Scotland and straight back to business for Wednesday. Had the tricky task of containing a lively Tom Ince. Came close with a second half shot.

Looked comfortable for most of the first half, but gave the ball away in a dangerous position just before the break. Withstood Stoke's pressure in the second 45 minutes.
Comfortable at the back as he cut out a number of crosses tossed into the Owls box. Only caught out of position once when driving into midfield, but otherwise solid.
Went toe-to-toe with McClean on the right and had the beating of the Stoke man for most of the opening 45 mins. Used his pace to bomb forward and overlap on the flank.
Industrious in the heart of the midfield, was at his best when on the back foot as he cut out Stoke crosses and turned over possession. Put his body on the line while Wednesday were under the cosh.
Had a quiet opening period until he picked up a yellow card for a necessary, but cynical, challenge on Diouf to stop a counter attack. Had a much better second half.
Switched from left to right midfield and back again as he looked to spread the play. Linked up well with Hooper on a few occasions. Came off for Matias on 89 mins.
A late starter for Wednesday after Aarons was injured in the warm up. Started brightly and had the ball in the back of the net, but it was offside. One of Boyd's better performances lately.
Looked lively on his return as he picked up the ball and ran at the Stoke defence. Dropped into midfield to collect the ball on occasion, before being subbed for Winnall on 58 minutes.
Back in the team for Wednesday and was at his best when linking up with Forestieri and Reach. Caught offside a few times in the first half before being subbed for Nuhiu on 68mins.
A 58th minute sub for Forestieri. Pressed hard to try and nick the game for Wednesday, but it wasn't to be.
Came on for Hooper as Wednesday looked for a winner. Held the ball up well and was a nuisance in the air.
A late sub for Adam Reach.
