Garry Monk refused to rule the Hillsborough club out of a move for Brewster last week but the chase is over.

The 19-year-old England youth international joins up with Swans boss Steve Cooper, who was his England under-17 manager when they won the World Cup in 2017.

Speaking on the club’s pursuit of big-name Premier League loan targets in a competitive loan market, Monk refused to deny the Owls interest in Brewster but admitted there was huge competition for his signature.

He said: “The more high calibre, the more difficult it is. But we need to keep pushing for those and having discussions.

“Those discussions are going on and we do have certain targets. We’ll try and push for that.”

Brewster’s signing is confirmed following Sam Surridge’s recall from Swansea to parent club Bournemouth. The Liverpool youngster will wear their number 19 shirt.

Brewster’s involvement with the first team at world champions Liverpool has been limited this season. He made two appearances in the EFL Cup and came off the bench in Sunday’s FA Cup third round win over Everton.

It was reported earlier this week that another Owls loan target, Arsenal’s Eddie Nketiah, is set to sign for Bristol City.
