The 29-year-old was replaced by Jacob Murphy at half-time having made his first start under the management of Monk.

Asked how long he expects Forestieri to miss out, Monk said: “I don’t know. He just felt he couldn’t continue at half-time, he said he’s jarred his knee.

“I don’t know if it was in a challenge, he said he’d gone down.

“But yeah, we’ll assess that and I’m sure he’ll be fine.”

Speaking earlier on what he needs to do to be given a more integral role, Monk said:

“He’ll get his opportunities and he’s got to take them. He’s got lads around him pushing hard and he has to match them.”
