It was thought the right-back would be involved in the Owls' cup tie with Brighton and Hove Albion last weekend.

But Baker, 23, was left out of the squad again as Monk elected to start versatile youngster Osaze Urhoghide at full-back.

Asked about the possibility of Baker departing Wednesday on a temporary basis, Monk told The Star: "We will sit down and speak to Ash.

"It is part of the plan for him to go and get games.”

Baker, recruited from Cardiff City three years ago, has not played for the first-team this season. His last Wednesday outing came in Jos Luhukay's final match in charge away to Swansea City in December 2018.

Baker, who has played 13 times for the Owls, is due to become a free agent in the summer.
