No added heat on Owls boss Carvalhal after winless run

Defeat at MK Dons on Tuesday night ensured the Owls have taken just seven points from the last 21 available.

Chairman Dejphon Chansiri has been in the country this week for a routine visit.

As he prepares for the home clash against Wolverhampton Wanderers, Carvalhal says the job of Wednesday head coach brings constant pressure and there will be a demand for victory in every game.

“The pressure to me is the same all the time,” he told The Star. “We are in a club where we are fighting all the time for the three points.

“We have the pressure to win the games, that is the natural pressure we have.

“It is not different to last week or in the beginning of the season.

“I am sure after this next game the answer to the question will be the same. We will have pressure to win against Birmingham and the pressure will be the same.

“This will be like this in the beginning and the end.”

The meeting with Wolves today is the first of back-to-back home games.

And Carvalhal is relishing the opportunity ahead.

He said: “It is a reality that when we play at Hillsborough in front of our massive fans, we feel more strong.

“It is a fantastic environment.

“When we need a push, the fans are there and the players are giving a good answer most of the time.

“We are strong when we play at Hillsborough. That is absolutely sure.

“After these two games we have an important game in Middlesbrough where we will fight for the three points again.

“All the time the three points are important.”

Sam Hutchinson took part in training on Friday as he recovers from a back problem and is likely to feature against Wolves.

A decision will be made on the inclusion of centre half Michael Turner, who remains a major doubt with a knee injury.

Turner – who has had injections in his knee in order to alleviate the problem – is likely to be replaced at centre half by Hutchinson.

Alex Lopez is also doubtful due to a thigh injury which will open the door for either Jose Semedo or Lewis McGugan.
