Injury-hit Wednesday look forward to break

The on-loan midfield man was also encouraged by the football produced by a much-changed team at Watford though the match ended in a 2-1 defeat.

"I think the biggest thing to emerge from Tuesday night was the amount of personnel we had to change, yet the lads who came in did very well," he said.

"We haven't got the biggest squad in the world. The break will give us a chance to get a few bodies back and bring it back up to full strength.

"I think there's enough quality in the squad; all that was lacking was that bit of confidence.

"We played well to get two wins (against Hull and Norwich). We killed ourselves in the first 20 minutes at Watford but we still could have got something out of the game."

After today's game against Leicester the Owls' next match is away to Kavanagh's old club Stoke on October 20.

Etienne Esajas was today pressing for a recall to the starting line-up, delighted that he has won the club's Player of the Month award for September after his first month with the Owls, though he started in only three games.

He made a flying start with his impressive performance as a sub against Bristol City.

"I want to thank the fans very much," he said.
