Hull City manager Grant McCann takes remarkable swipe at Sheffield Wednesday 'hospitality' after 1-0 win at Hillsborough

The former Doncaster Rovers manager unleashed a remarkable swipe on the ‘lack of hospitality’ shown at S6, complaining that he was forced to walk 10 minutes from his car to the ground and that Sheffield Wednesday had turned electricity off in the away changing room.

Owls stewards also came under fire from the Northern Irishman, who he accused of riling his staff before kick-off.

“Sheffield Wednesday tried to knock us, even when we arrived at the stadium,” he said. “They made me park 10 minutes away in the car, which was strange.

“They turned all the plugs off in the changing room so we couldn’t play any music.

“These things are here to test you, it didn’t fault us, we got our head down and worked hard.”

McCann, whose side went level on points with the Owls and recorded a second 1-0 win over them this season, said that in comparison to the hospitality shown at their KCOM Stadium, Wednesday’s was found wanting.

He said: “It’s a bit strange really, usually any managers come to our stadium they can park right outside the front. It is what it is,

“I’m used to seeing things like this in football.

“The hospitality wasn’t very good here I’ve got to say, the stewards were arguing with my staff before the game. It was ridiculous to be honest.

“But we focused on the football and got the job done.

“I think it’s really sad that people can do that to opposition teams.”
