Huge suspension blow for Sheffield Wednesday stars

Sheffield Wednesday's Sam Hutchinson has been walking a tightrope and he fell off at Pride Park on Wednesday night.

The combative midfielder had already been booked nine times this and was facing another automatic ban.

That has duly arrived after Hutchinson was booked for dissent against Derby County.

The 30 year-old was over-exuberant in his protestations following the awarding of a penalty for the home side late in the game, with the Owls leading 1-0 at the time.

Moses Odubajo had gone shoulder-to-shoulder with County's Jack Marriott who went sprawling to the ground. The referee harshly pointed to the spot and Chris Martin dispatched an equaliser.

Hutchinson will now miss two games, this Saturday’s trip to Nottingham Forest and the crucial home clash with Bristol City.

To rub salt into the wounds, Odubajo picked up a second yellow card in the 90th minute for a sloppy challenge and he too will miss Saturday's match at the City Ground.
