But Wednesday manager Garry Monk tactically outwitted the Argentine's stuttering Leeds United side.

At a raucous Elland Road, Monk maintained his impressive unbeaten record against the master. After four meetings between the pair, Monk has now won three and drawn one.

His players executed Monk’s gameplan to a tee. They nullified the Whites' strengths and stunned them with their late show to become the first team to win in West Yorkshire since the end of August.

This was a ruthlessly efficient performance.

It would have been easy for the Owls, who lined up in a 4-1-4-1 formation, to buckle without influential striker Steven Fletcher.

Yet Monk's troops dug deep and defended doggedly in a largely uneventful first half that Leeds controlled. The hosts lacked the killer touch to break down Wednesday's compact, obdurate backline.

But the Owls, marshalled superbly by Julian Börner, sat in, kept their defensive discipline and showed more adventure after the break.

"It was very difficult for us facing the league leaders away from home," said Monk.

"Our gameplan was good. We had to deal with the pressure and to take our chances when they came, we did that really well.

"We matched them and we took our chances. We have played with heart and courage in our last two games.

“When you play like that you will get your rewards, we were good value for the win.”

The organisation, togetherness, heart, passion and courage Monk wanted was there for all to see.

While Leeds ran out of steam and ideas, Wednesday finished with a flourish.

Monk's decision to throw on Atdhe Nuhiu midway through the second period for the tiring Sam Winnall proved inspired. The giant striker made a telling impact, creating Jacob Murphy's 87th minute opener.

Nuhiu swept the ball out to the Newcastle United loanee, who beat Kiko Casilla at his near post from an acute angle.

It was Wednesday's first shot on target.

And guess what?

The Owls then scored with their second effort on target deep into added on time.

It was left to Nuhiu to put the gloss on a memorable away day when he drilled a left foot shot past the helpless Casilla after great approach play by Barry Bannan and Adam Reach.

Cometh the hour, cometh Atdhe Nuhiu.

"We need to look at the collective role that the team played in conceding possession when they scored their goals rather than blame any individuals,” said Bielsa.

"I can understand the anxiety amongst the crowd when key moments to win the game do not go as we want.

"There is a sense of doubt around the team when things are not going to plan, and I do not mean the players or fans."

Three points, two late goals and a clean sheet.

“Leeds are falling apart,” chanted the 2,600 travelling fans at the final whistle.

One league win in six league outings is an undeniable mid-season wobble for the Whites.

As for Wednesday, back-to-back victories has reignited their campaign after a desperately disappointing festive period.

No second tier team has scored more goals (25) on their travels than Monk's side this season. Six victories from 14 matches away from Hillsborough is not too shabby either.

After a mini blip, the Owls are back on track.
