Birmingham City head coach Clotet worked alongside Monk at Swansea City, Leeds United and Birmingham City before falling out with his old boss after his exit at the Blues.

Monk revealed in the build-up to their game against Birmingham that he didn't speak to Clotet any more, and refused to shake his hand before their 1-1 draw at Hillsborough.

But Clotet says that he only has good memories of their time working together, and says he helped Monk improve as a manager.

"I worked in four different countries as a head coach, as a manager, assistant manager," he said.

"I worked for some fantastic managers and I learned a lot from them and I benefitted them. They will all agree that I put their interests before mine.

"Garry and I together had five fantastic years with so many things. He grew thanks to my experience and influence and obviously he helped me as well.

"It's very clear, everyone knows, I have worked for four different clubs in England and they all know my values.

"They all know if I work for a manager I put his interests before mine, if I work for a club I put their interests before mine because that is the position a coach should always be in."
