Dawson's present deal is due to run out in the summer and a number of clubs, including Rangers, Derby County and Blackburn Rovers, are closely monitoring his situation.

The Star understands Dawson is also on the radar of reigning Scottish champions Celtic.

But Dawson, a graduate of the club’s youth system, insists he wants to prolong his Owls stay.

He told The Star: "We are in dialogue with the club about it (contract) now.

"I want a quick resolution as much as anyone does.

"I like things done. I don't like it when things drag on.

"Hopefully we will get things done and we can quickly move forward.”

The 24-year-old has produced a string of superb performances since returning to the starting XI in November.

Dawson, who has played 17 times this season, said he has been “delighted” with his own form and reiterated his desire to remain with Wednesday.

"I love this place,” he said. “It means an awful lot to me.

"If there is a chance to stay here, then excellent.”

Dawson is expected to line up in goal when the Owls return to action at home to mid-table Blackburn Rovers on Saturday. Garry Monk’s men will be aiming to record a third consecutive victory in all competitions.

Monk is hopeful of bringing in a new striker before they host Blackburn to help plug the gap left by the injured Steven Fletcher. It is understood Wednesday are interested in taking Crystal Palace forward Connor Wickham on loan until the end of the campaign.

They have also been strongly linked with Arsenal’s Eddie Nketiah and Newcastle United’s Dwight Gayle.

Monk said: "We are looking at all types. They have to fit into the group that we have already got.

"With Fletch out, we need some strength and dynamic in the attacking areas.

"We are working on it but there is nothing concrete at the moment."
