It was a familiar tale for Sheffield Wednesday fans at Pride Park.

Not only are they used to not seeing their team winning there but this season’s major theme continued with the conceding of a late goal.

The Owls had controlled the first half and led through Steven Fletcher’s 11th goal of the season. But they failed to come out after the break and when Moses Odubajo was harshly penalised as he wrestled with a rather lightweight Jack Marriott in the box, Chris Martin bagged an equaliser for Derby County from the spot.

@AshSmith71 perhaps summed it up, posting: “Garbage second half, not helped by terrible subs and obviously the pen that wasn’t. #swfc It’ll be reyt.”

@CarterSWFC added: “Annoying one to take but got what we deserved for sitting back before killing game off!”

Understandably the penalty was a bone of contention among fans. @DeanMissere said: “Absolutely disgraceful decision mind to give that pen, if anything Odubajo was the one fouled, he was ball side Marriott was never in a million years in control of that ball.”

@chris_mellish agreed but made a further point on the performance and in his eyes a costly call from the bench: “I’ve seen it numerous times now and I still don’t think it was a penalty more like a foul on Odubajo. However I still think that bad subs cost us, taking Fletcher off was a mistake, gave us no out ball and no hold up play options! Lucky to hold on in the end IMO”

@OfUlrik added: “More points given away last minute! We must be the most consistent team in the league to just throw leads away but never push to secure more than one goal!”

And @AnthonyPool took a breather before becoming a little more circumspect: “Now I've had my grump and calmed down though I must admit I'm happy with the points return so far. There's long way to go, with opportunities to beat teams around us. Monk is doing a good job with what we have, and hasn't had an opportunity to bring anyone in yet.”
