It was a game of two halves at S6 with the Owls dominating proceedings in the opening 45 minutes before the visitors came on strong in the final quarter as the home side’s legs, unsurprisingly, tired.

But it was another clean sheet for Garry Monk’s men, who have yet to concede all season, with goalkeeper Cameron Dawson producing two fine saves in the second half to thwart the Hornets to help Wednesday move up to minus eight points at the foot of the table.

On Twitter, our Owls correspondent, Joe Crann, wrote: “The main plus point from today… #SWFC lose that game last season. Excellent first half, decent in the second. But another clean sheet against this Watford side is very pleasing.”

Here’s how some Wednesdayites, also on Twitter, have reacted to today’s goalless draw at Hillsborough.

@Dannyswfc01 Cant believe we aren't going to conceded a goal all season! #swfc

@SWFcStevieBrown On a serious note we’ll be above Barnsley & Rotherham before end of next month at this rate

@clurrrrxhx No shame at all in that result, good point. Forty-five minutes of great football and another clean sheet. Four points from those first two games is brilliant. Onto the next one #swfc

@PeterNaldrett Four games without letting a goal in. And now we’re only minus eight points. Just 12 points off the play offs. #swfc #wawaw

@AdamAGreenius 0-0 with promotions favourites. Take that. #swfc

@SteelOwl Great start to the season, but don't count on us being given much in the way of decisions in our favour. #SWFC

@ashkitson1867 -8. Gained on five teams already and one will 100 per cent be below us. Don't think I've ever been this confident in an #swfc team

@AshFinney1 If we can sign Murphy and two strikers by October 16 I will be very happy with our squad. Early days but it’s looking a lot more promising than last season

@george_barber01 -8 after two tough games. I’ll take that #swfc

@matt_scholey Can't complain at a point against a side in the Premier League last season - an average of two points per game is a solid start and four clean sheets in a row #positivesigns #swfc

@neilbartrop Lots of positives. Last season we’d have lost this game 0-4 #swfc

@nattasswfc Luongo had a stormer again. Underrated. #swfc

@rwn1992 Izzy Brown class again, good point against a decent side and another clean sheet #swfc
