Ten-man Sheffield Wednesday slipped to a deserved 2-0 defeat against Notts County at Meadow Lane.
The Owls lost Di’Shon Bernard to injury after 10 minutes and his replacement, Gabriel Otegbayo, who was later subbed off himself, gave away a penalty when he was judged to have fouled Daniel Kanu, who scored the resulting spot-kick on 38 minutes. The Magpies deserved their lead and should have been further in front in a half the visitors failed to have a shot on target.
Wednesday’s night got worse when Jamal Lowe was shown a red card after a lunge on Jacob Bedeau just five minutes into the second-half. The Owls made changes as Notts pressed for a second goal but were denied by some last-ditch blocks and wasteful finishing.
But County put the game to bed with nine minutes through Darius Lipsiuc on a desperately poor night for The Owls, who were easily second best when it was 11v11.
Here are our player ratings from the game...

9. Davis Keillor-Dunn 5
Showed flashes of his intelligent link play in the opening stages. It looked like he would be the one to make something happen in the first-half but that was about it. | ugc

10. Harry Gray 4
Opened up for him midway through the first 45 but he got the ball caught under his feet. Dragged a shot wide in anger just after the opener. Quiet when down to 10. | ugc

11. Jamal Lowe 4
Isolated up front in the first-half and struggled to hold it up. Shifted to the right after the break but was sent off five minutes after the break for a desperate lunge. Hobbled off injured himself, too. | ugc

12. Gabriel Otegbayo 4
Replaced the injured Bernard in the opening stages and gave away a penalty when he was judged to have hauled down Kanu, who tucked the resulting spot-kick away. Had some other nervy moments and some okay ones but the sub was subbed with 12 to go. | ugc
