The 20-year-old arrives at Hillsborough from Italian side Triestina for an undisclosed fee and is understood to have agreed a deal that will keep him with Wednesday until next year.

However, it remains to be seen whether Hidalgo will go straight into the first-team squad or be a member of the under-23 side.

@DestructionLuxe This is the kind of business we need to be doing as a club going forward. Bringing in promising youngsters, developing them and selling at a profit down the line.

It’s the way out of our FFP nightmares and shows Chansiri is learning. Nothing to bitch about here

@L0RD_H New chap looks a tricky little whippet.

@TheDazzler43 Just wondered if this is 100% a Garry Monk signing, hardly seems in keeping with "accumulating as many points as possible" which he says regularly and why ditch fringe players, to buy more fringe players? Just my opinion. The best of luck to the kid tho, he'll get my support.

@ploehmann #swfc Potentially clever U23s signing this. Next to no risk. From looking briefly at video of him, his heritage isn't the only similarity with Forestieri, although he seems very one and left-footed.

@andymcelwaine All these fans saying ‘who?’ about the new Wednesday player Hidalgo is annoying. Might be a right find. Just because he isn’t a Champions League winner like our ‘massive’ club has to have. He may also be the new Jack Stobbs . . .

@Justom29 Spelled Messi wrong lads

@owlsfan83 Never heard of him or the club he's signed from, but welcome to S6 fella. Hopefully the new Messi.

@adamswfc Can’t wait for him to play Rochdale (H) next season in 1st round of Carabao Cup then to be loaned out to Hamilton Academical

@beckamae_ Wickham looks different

@bowieoasis81 Turns on Twitter and we’ve signed a player I’ve never heard of. Then watches 15 minutes of You Tube and it is all that matters in life. Genius!!
