The Owls appointed the 46-year-old on Monday morning, with the former West Brom man leaving Doncaster Rovers to take over at Hillsborough.

His arrival comes off the back of four straight league defeats that have seen Wednesday slip to 23rd in the table.

Their most recent lost came against Luton Town on Saturday afternoon.

For their part, the Millers are enduring a miserable run of their own, and have lost their last five outings in the Championship.

Paul Warne’s men were beaten 1-0 by promotion-chasing Reading over the weekend.

Speaking to Sky Sports News, Prutton said: “Sheffield Wednesday acted quickly to swoop for Darren Moore as they decided something needed to be done after four straight defeats, particularly as well in the way they collapsed against Luton on Saturday.

“This is a huge, huge game near the bottom.

"Rotherham are in no kind of form at all, and a draw doesn't really help either side.

"It will be nervy, but I think a mixture of new manager bounce and quality up top will see Wednesday through. Just.”

Prutton forecasts a 1-0 win for Wednesday.

Three points for the Owls would take them above Rotherham in the table.

The last time these two sides met was in October, with the Millers running out comfortable 3-0 winners.

Wednesday's most recent victory over United came in August 2019, with the Owls edging a League Cup that ended 1-0.
