Ivan Toney reveals Brentford spotted something in Sheffield Wednesday keeper Cameron Dawson that led to goal

Two-goal matchwinner Ivan Toney has revealed that Brentford’s first goal in their 2-1 win over Sheffield Wednesday didn’t come about by chance.

The £10million man grabbed a double at Hillsborough to give the Bees all three points, eother side of a first goal for Owls’ Callum paterson.

Toney’s first came about after Henrik Dalsgaard's was pushed out by Wednesday keeper Cameron Dawson and the former Peterborough striker followed up to fire in after just seven minutes.

But rather than just instinct, Toney admitted that Brentford had been watching clip of Dawson – like they do all their opponents – and picked up on the point that Dawson often parries long range shots.

Toney told Sky Sports: “We look at it before the games. Obviously certain keepers parry it and we noticed it today that the keeper parries it a yard either side and I just gambled and it paid off.”

Toney scored the winner after after out-muscling Moses Odubajo to head in from a corner.
