“It’s the biggest game”: Joe Mattock on 'getting one over' on Sheffield Wednesday for Rotherham this evening

The left-back called Hillsborough home for three years. Speaking Rotherham’s official club website, Mattock said he is looking forward to the opportunity to face up against Garry Monk’s men.
“Definitely,” he said. “I’ve got a few clubs to go to, but Sheffield Wednesday are obviously a massive club and because they’re such rivals to Rotherham it makes it all the more bigger.

"They’re going to be fighting to get out [of the bottom three]. They’ve done not too bad so far, they’ve got a couple more points than us and they’re still on minus.
“But they’re going to come to our ground fighting as much as possible trying to get out of that bottom three. We’ve just got to stop them at every turn and there’s no doubt we can do that. We’ve got the ability in the side, the most I’ve seen since I’ve been at Rotherham.
“We need to make sure we get that bounce back win, get some more points on the board. Wednesday is the perfect time to do it.”

Asked what impact the absence of supporters will have on the South Yorkshire derby, Mattock said: “Nothing more than usual, because everyone knows at Rotherham that Sheffield Wednesday is the biggest game.
“It’s going to be nice playing them on a Wednesday night. Personally I always like night games, that might fall in our favour a little bit. A lot of our lads feel the same, so we’re going to be raring to go.
“No doubt the gaffer will give us a big motivating speech before we go out because it’s what he likes to do. I look forward to that.”
