Yes, Sheffield Wednesday fans finally have something to celebrate tonight after their side ended a nine-game, winless run with a hard-fought 1-0 victory over Coventry City at Hillsborough this afternoon.

The win came courtesy of former skipper Tom Lees, who headed home Barry Bannan’s free kick midway through the second half to give Tony Pulis an early Christmas present and his first victory as Owls boss. It was also the former Stoke City manager’s 100th win in the Championship.

Today’s much-needed win also lifts Pulis’ side off the foot of the Sky Bet Championship on goal difference from Wycombe Wanderers, taking them to within four points of safety.

On Twitter, our Wednesday correspondent Joe Crann wrote: “In all seriousness, #SWFC created more than enough to win the game today, and are lucky that Coventry didn’t take any of their chances.

“Westwood, Lees and Dunkley were all great, but the lack of goals is still a concern - even after a win. Big, big three points though.”

But what did Wednesdayites make of today’s win over the Sky Blues?

Let’s take a look at what they’re saying on Twitter.

@OR19922 Still a huge lack of quality that needs addressing in January, but that’s a big win for us. Lees was a colossus for us and Joey continues to play well. Injuries a big worry too but hopefully not too seriously

@HillsideD A win? What the hell is a "win"?

@_joe_barker_ Sheffield Wednesday have won! I repeat Sheffield Wednesday have won

@TomRedman1 Brilliant. Well earned three points. Let push on now lads. Also CLEAN SHEET BABY

@Lukepeo1886 Great performance from the best keeper at the club today

@SteveJ2403 It’s a Christmas miracle! Hallelujah! Give those boys their damn wages for the week!

@SteveRymill Actually in shock, get in!

@shefqi So, so pleased for the team and the manager today. Desperate times at the moment but that could prove to be one of the biggest wins in the club’s recent history. Quite simply all about the win and the three points

@snavEwerdnA Check out what happens when we put in an experienced keeper who can not only stop shots but boss his defence and distribute effectively. Coventry had more chances than I'd like, but the result speaks for itself. #swfc
