Centre-half Ben Cabango, who has three senior international caps for Wales, was sent home from Swans training yesterday after a letter of complaint sent to the club by a local resident claimed he held a social gathering at his home on Saturday night.

WalesOnline report that they have seen the letter, which also alleges “partygoers” were caught on camera urinating outside the home of a neighbour, while noise from cars driving around the private estate kept locals awake into the early hours.

Police were called to the scene in response to reports of a disturbance, but say no further action was taken.

Cabango has made 28 league appearances for the Swans this season but has played in only one of their last six. It seems likely he could miss further matches including Swansea’s home clash with the Owls’ fellow relegation battlers Wycombe Wanderers on Saturday.

A statement released by the club said: “The club is aware of an incident involving a first-team player that occurred over the weekend.

“The player in question has been sent home from the training bubble and as a result will not feature in Tuesday’s game against Sheffield Wednesday

“We work closely with Public Health Wales and have a strict set of Covid-19 protocols within the club and we have made these abundantly clear to all players and staff.

“It is disappointing that these protocols have been breached, and as a club we expect all personnel to adhere to such guidelines in a manner that is indicative of the huge sacrifices made by so many.

“The club will now conclude the matter internally.”

The 20-year-old joins Liam Cullen, Steven Benda and Tivonge Rushesha in being ruled out for tonight’s clash.

There are only six matches left in Wednesday’s season and after Saturday’s 4-1 defeat at QPR, stand-in manager Jamie Smith suggested Wednesday needed seven points from their next three matches; all home fixtures, with Bristol City and Blackburn Rovers.
