A whole host of big names left the club last summer for pastures new; to Serie A, to non-league and to Cyprus. Some have prospered, some have had really bad times of it. One has even made a shock return to S6.
Let’s take a look at how they’ve got on since leaving Wednesday..
9. Jacob Murphy
A return for Murphy, on loan from Newcastle last season, never looked all that likely considering the quality shown in his time at Wednesday. His initial weeks at St James Park went very well as he started four consecutive league matches. Though things have tailed off just a touch, Steve Bruce is a fan and he's very much involved up there. He has two goals and three assists in 23 appearances. Photo: Pool
10. Fernando Forestieri
A fan favourite throughout his time at Wednesday, Forestieri signed for Serie A Udinese in the summer. He's played only 13 times in a season decimated by injury, scoring twice. Fit again, he's come off the bench in their last two matches. Photo: Alessandro Sabattini
11. Steven Fletcher
One of the more heavily-felt departures, Fletcher signed for Championship rivals Stoke and has scored nine time this season, including the winner in a 1-0 win over the Owls at the bet365 Stadium back in February. The 34-year-old has had injuries along the way but has amassed 36 appearances this season. Photo: Catherine Ivill
12. Connor Kirby
Kirby, a long-time Wednesday youth player whose progress slowed towards the end of his time at the club, signed for League Two newbies Harrogate Town on a free transfer. It looked to be going very well as he featured in the bulk of the first half of their season but hasn't played since January with fitness and form pushing him down the pecking order.
