A whole host of big names left the club last summer for pastures new; to Serie A, to non-league and to Cyprus. Some have prospered, some have had really bad times of it. One has even made a shock return to S6.
Let’s take a look at how they’ve got on since leaving Wednesday..

2. Preslav Borukov
The release of Bulgarian youngster Borukov took some by surprise. As revealed by The Star last year, the forward had a number of options in Europe but signed for Etar back in his home country due to complications caused by the Covid crisis. He has performed well, scoring seven times for the bottom-of-the-league club and is set for a free transfer move back to Western Europe this summer. Photo: Getty Images
3. Alessio Da Cruz
Something of a surprise loan brought in by Garry Monk last January, Alessio Da Cruz showed glimmers of promise in his time at Hillsborough but failed to truly make the grade. He returned to Parma and is now on loan with Eredivisie side FC Groningen, where he has acquitted himself well, scoring twice and claiming three assists in his 18 appearances. 4. Sam Hutchinson
Frozen out under Monk, Hutchinson's release in the summer was no surprise, unlike his next move, which saw him head off to FC Pafos in Cyprus. His stint there was brief and former Owls boss Tony Pulis launched a bid to bring him back in January. Pulis departed but Hutchinson still arrived and has played 15 times. Photo: Bryn Lennon
