And as the top eight position themselves, as the top three continue to last each others' pace, there’s been no let-up for the sides desperate for promotion to the Championship this season.. we could be heading towards another record points total required.
But where do Sheffield Wednesday sit in the reckoning according to the stats? What about the pace-setting pair of Ipswich Town and Plymouth Argyle – and what about the likes of Derby County and Barnsley?
Who looks most likely for relegation?
The number crunchers and statistics experts at FiveThirtyEight have taken into account the quality of each squad, form guides and remaining fixtures to draw up their recmmendations on who will finish where on what number of points.
And it’s tight in several areas of the table - with a handful of spots separated by goal difference.
After the FA Cup pause, here’s how the data experts see League One finishing..

9. 17th - Fleetwood Town - 53pts
There was a bristle of unease at the appointment of Scott Brown as Fleetwood manager over the summer, but the former Celtic skipper has done a fine job, getting to know Wednesday and Darren Moore pretty well in the last few weeks with four matches in six weeks. They've recruited well and look well set to build from here, with a algorithm chance of relegation set at just 12%. Photo: Henry Browne

10. 16th - Bristol Rovers - 54pts
Another young manager with links to both Fleetwood and Glasgow football, Joey Barton has led Bristol Rovers to a strong start on their return to League One, including an unfancied draw at Hillsborough. A 7% chance of the drop would come as a surprise at this stage - it's been a job well done so far. Photo: Naomi Baker

11. 15th - Port Vale - 57pts
Another set of third tier newbies, Port Vale have taken well to life in League One and currently sit 14th after 29 outings. The stats model suspects that'll be about as hot as they get, though, and they're forecast to end up in a very creditable 15th, 13 points clear of the drop. There's less than 1% chance of relegation, they reckon. It' a position they've worked hard for. Photo: Gareth Copley

12. 14th - Oxford United - 57pts
An odd one to predict in that they're a team that may well have punched above their weight a little in the past, Oxford perhaps the oddest of all the 'funny teams' anyone would consider picking on a weekend accumulator. A final position of 14th would surely come as a huge disappointment. Photo: Catherine Ivill
