A whole host of big names left the club last summer for pastures new; to Serie A, to non-league and to Cyprus. Some prospered, some have had a really bad time of it. One has even made a shock return to S6.
Let’s take a look at how they’ve got on since leaving Wednesday..
13. Paul Jones
The mysterious case of Paul Jones at Sheffield Wednesday came to an end in the summer. Brought in to act as third choice keeper while Joe Wildsmith recovered from a knee injury, he failed to make an appearance for the club. He's not signed on elsewhere as it stands, though there is no official word of a retirement for the 34-year-old. Photo: Pete Norton
14. Morgan Fox
Fox joined Fletcher at Stoke in the summer and initially did well in fits and starts, jumping from left back to the left side of a back three. He snared three assists in 22 appearances but saw his season ravaged by a hamstring injury. He has played only three matches in 2021. Photo: Nathan Stirk
15. Atdhe Nuhiu
An Owls cult hero, Nuhiu moved to Cypriot side APOEL Nicosia on a free transfer and has a mixed time of it, scoring only once. Usually one of the nation's football giants, APOEL sacked Mick McCarthy in January and had to play in a round of relegation play-offs from the end of February, which they came through fairly easily. Nuhiu, though, hasn't started a game since January and sat out of their last six matches altogether. Has now moved on again after being released. Photo: James Chance
16. Fraser Preston
Tipped for a return to the Football League by his manager last week having impressed, Fraser Preston signed for Boston United in the summer and is another to have had his progress stunted by the cancellation of much of the non-league season. Photo: JPIMedia
