“Keiren’s been wonderful,” said JB’s mum. “My mum has been stuck in New York so isn’t able to be with us for his birthday, and we recently lost my grandmother... Due to all the circumstances, I wanted to do something special for James, so I reached out to Westy and he has been amazing!

“My grandmother loved Westy as well thanks to James and his obsession. He’s been a fan since he was old enough to understand. Another lovely touch was that I sent Westy some photos of James playing as a goalkeeper in a friendly, so he signed and sent him the same shirt.”

So is the plan to take Westwood’s place in the future? You bet it is!

His mum explained, “James plays forward for his Sunday league team, but has trained as a goalkeeper with 5 Star Sports Academy in New York. Since moving home last year he now trains down at Middlewood Road with the Sheffield Wednesday Community Programme and they’ve been working on goalkeeping with him too!

“He wants to start like Liam Palmer and try to get into the academy and work his way to the first team.”
