The Owls head into the game seven points clear of the drop zone with the threat of a potential points deduction still to be settled.

‘Grit’ and ‘determination’ were the buzzwords in Garry Monk’s pre-match press conference – two attributes he feels his side have not shown enough of this season – along with themes of staying positive heading into the final four matches of the season.

Midfield man Kieran Lee is the only player ruled out of the Loftus Road clash. The likes of Tom Lees and Connor Wickham could make a return.

“We have to get those things right,” Monk said on the ‘critical moments’. “We’ve been in positions to win games, it’s been quite harsh I think that we haven’t collected more points from some good performances.

“But we have to stay positive, we have to stay positive with the players and keep encouraging them to do the right things and show them the things they can work and improve on, that’s what I’m trying to do.

“I’ll always stay positive with them and I believe they can do it, they know they can do it.

“It’s just that little bit more grit and grinding and determination in key moments will help us and if we can get that it can hopefully that can give us some good results in these four games.”

On Mark Warburton’s QPR, who sit 14th a single point ahead of Wednesday, Monk said: “They’ve got young, dynamic players in the forward positions, good players.

“They’re always a dangerous team, every game I’ve had there at Loftus Road is always a tough and difficult game.

“As we always do we’ll try to prepare for them and the important thing for us is to keep doing what we’ve been doing really well. We’ve been in positions to take chances and positions to take points. It’s about being able to grind and see out those little periods that we’ve faced.”
