Owls boss Monk will also be without the services of defender Joost van Aken, who will begin a three-match suspension after his sending off against Luton Town on Saturday.

But the Wednesday manager could be boosted by the return of injured trio Dominic Iorfa, Tom Lees and Izzy Brown.

"We’re hopeful, we’ll have a good look at them injury-wise and see how they are. Massimo won’t play, his swelling is still going down," said Monk after the defeat to Luton.

Centre-half Chey Dunkley is back in training but unlikely to feature until after the international break as he continues his comeback from a double leg break he suffered while playing for former club Wigan Athletic earlier this year.
