Paterson joined the Owls for an undisclosed fee on Wednesday afternoon, becoming the club’s seventh signing of the season as Garry Monk continues to bolster his squad for the 2020/21 campaign.

The Scottish international, who joins from Welsh side, Cardiff City, was already in training with the team on the day he was announced, and he says he’s ‘delighted’ to join SWFC.

Speaking in his first interview with the club, the man who Hearts fans called ‘Dr. Funk’, explained his move by saying, “I fell out of favour at Cardiff, and thankfully the gaffer here came knocking. I’m absolutely delighted, and thrilled to be part of the club. It’s moving in the right direction.”

But as a player who has played in practically every position in his career, where does Monk want to use him?

“He wants me up top,” he explained. “I’ve played in a lot of positions, I’m quite comfortable playing up top. I love being up there and being amongst the goals - I’m happy to be there and I’ll bring the best I can.”

And what does he bring to the team?

“A bit of physicality, hustle and bustle, run the channels and get in people’s faces and ruffle up the game. I’m glad to be here, and hopefully I can do my job and get the boys firing.”

That’ll be music to Wednesdayites’ ears no doubt, but what about his famous celebrations – does he save some in the bank?

He said, “Most of them came from the old Fortnite days, it’s been a while since I’ve done a dance actually, so I should probably get practicing and see if there’s anything out there.

“I’ve got a few lined up, so hopefully I can get some goals!”
