'Get Liam Shaw on a 10-year deal' - fans hail youngster after starring role in Sheffield Wednesday's FA Cup win over Exeter City

Goals from Adam Reach and Callum Paterson were enough to see off the League Two outfit as the Covid-hit Owls made it four wins in their last five games to secure their place in Monday evening’s draws for the fourth and fifth rounds.

Writing on Twitter after the Owls’ latest win, our correspondent Joe Crann wrote: “To say that they’re all 20 or under, I thought #SWFC’s young defenders were excellent today…
Liam Shaw the pick of the bunch, but Ciaran Brennan and Ryan Galvin were quality too.

But how have Wednesdayites, also on Twitter, reacted to today’s win and performance?
Let’s take a look at what they’re saying this evening.
@RossSiddons Absolutely brilliant win that, young lads coming in and doing fantastic. Awful build up and a **** record against at Exeter but come through it. Wins breed confidence and mean my Saturday nights aren't ruined. Up the Wednesday

@WednesdayRetro Well Done today Wednesday. Under the circumstances with Covid in the squad, great win. Neil Thompson played three, won three.. Praise to the squad and Andy Holdsworth.
@shane1191 Brennan, Galvin and Shaw – very assured performances all round! Didn’t look out of place playing which is always a great sign and I know it was only Exeter City but with all the circumstances coming into today, that was a very professional performance!

Hide Ad@mattkelcher So Liam Shaw is basically Franz Beckenbauer then. Good to know. I need a cigarette after watching that assist for the second goal.
@Shez_71 Liam Shaw will take all the plaudits and rightly so, he was magnificent. But Odubajo, I thought played very well and created the confidence in the two central defenders with some crucial blocks and interceptions.
@TomTB1995 Personally feel that a cup run might do wonders for confidence. Galvin looked very good on debut, thought Hunt looked good as well. Nice to be in the hat for round four
