But boss Monk, whose side entertain seventh-placed Bristol City on Sunday, is refusing to get carried away.
He told The Star: "We are getting there; we are not the finished article by any means but Forest was a good level and bar for them to keep trying to push towards."
The ex-defender was quick to pay tribute to Wednesday's 1,900 plus travelling fans at the City Ground after watching his side seal a ninth win in the last 10 meetings with Forest.

"I want the fans to be proud of the team and I want a team that will fight properly for the shirt."
Monk has no new injury concerns as they prepare to take the Robins. Fernando Forestieri (knee) is unlikely to be available for selection, but Moses Odubajo could be included in the matchday squad after serving a one-match suspension. Midfielder Sam Hutchinson is still banned.
